We are homeowners

Well, its official...Spencer and I bought our first house!

We began looking several months ago, and looked and looked and looked. We found a couple houses we liked here and there, but unfortunately, they would already be under contract, or the seller would not negotiate per our liking. With that said, about a month ago, we came across a cute house that was in the neighborhood we wanted (great schools and great location). We both really liked the lay-out, it had a decent kitchen, and a fairly good curb appeal. So needless to say, after some negotiating...the house is now OURS :) We closed last week....and have already started on the renovations (it needs SOOO MANY). As of now, we have just begun painting the den and kitchen, and we have started a little on the outside. We are getting new floors in both of these rooms immediately, so we wanted to paint before the instillation. I have started taking before pictures, so as we go through the process, I will post more pics!

To all who have sent warm wishes our way...thank you so very much! Spencer and I are very excited and cant wait to make our house a home :)

Summer travels to South Padre and Alaska

Spencer and I have been very busy traveling this summer. A couple days after I got out of work for the summer, we flew to South Padre to fish and play on the beach with his mom and step-dad! It was such a nice get-a-way, and the sun and beach were amazing. Thank you Ken and Terri :)

Dinner cruise around the bay. Got to see so many pretty houses, and listen to the one man band sitting behind us!

Alaska:
Late Wednesday night, we got back from a 7 day cruise through Alaska with Spencer's Dad, sep-mom, step-brothers, and his sister, her husband, and sweet baby Avaree :) To begin...Getting there was quite the adventure. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 6 am on Wednesday, therefore We stayed at a hotel close to the airport Tuesday night so we could get to the airport by 4:30 am. This all went smoothly until we loaded the plane and sat there for about an hour. From what the pilot was saying, they could not get the airplane to start (not a plane problem, but a device to start the plane problem) So, apparently, after they tried four or so starting devices...none working, we had to get off the plane. This makes people so mad...and the people watching amazing. At this point, we have all missed our connecting flight to get us to Vancouver, in order to get us to the cruise ship. Soo...About an hour after de-boarding, we REboarded the same plane, minus Spencer's dad and step-mom. She did some amazing work getting all of us to Vancouver at the same, however they had to change flights.

In all, the flight situation all worked out, and the ship did not leave us. We had a great time (minus the motion sickness and cold raining weather). Alaska is absolutely, breathtakingly, beautiful. I am not the most nature seeking person, and I can honestly say the sights were amazing. We docked in Juneau, Skagway, and Ketchikan. During these stops, Spencer and I Traveled to the Yukon, saw bears on the side of the road, went horseback riding on the side of a mountain, zip lined through the rain forest, hiked, and whale watched. It was truly a great time... hanging out with family, eating dinner together that last 2 hours, and staying up until 11pm with almost full sunlight :) We love you John and Denise. Thank you for taking us on this great trip :)

Our Holland America Ship

 First Stop: Juneau

This is a hump-back whale. You can somewhat see him spraying water out. I Could not get a good pic of him though
This is the Mendenhall glacier. ALLLL ice...incredible

Waterfall flowing right in front of the glacier
2nd port was Skaway... 90 min to Canadian Yukon

Saw 2 bears this trip. Both eating on side of road
Canoed in Spirit Lake
Horseback right after canoe.
Through this terrain....it was somewhat nerve racking at times. One horse even tripped and fell on top his rider
 Stop 3: Ketchikan
One of our guides "Beck"  This bridge was scary to me
